The
Speed zone's first practice turned out to be a practice for
everyone! Including the new company that will be doing
track prep. this year for the Speedzone. They had a big
job in front of them... Their task was to bring the track back
to the original configurations. They made good progress on
doing this, and will continue to do so. When the practice
started it looked like it was going to be a dust out disaster.
Some drivers were quick to jump to madness and some even
left. However, the new track Prep. company seen &
learned from his mistake in lack of water. He quickly
jumped into action and after a short delay, he got the dust
problem under control. The racers who stayed had one of
the nicest tracks ever at the Speedzone to shake down their
cars. I believe it is a sign of what is to come... The
promoters at the Speedzone are committed to being the best track
in the state. Many others promoters would not have went
the extra mile to fix a problem! The ran the practice
longer than scheduled to insure everyone got the track time they
wanted.
The
Speedzone inspection crew was busy all day with their
inspections. They report that the drivers are doing a great job
in the safety dept. They are seeing many drivers making
advancements in safety of their cars. The new Speedzone
track photographer, Denny from Twist Photography was on
hand. He is looking forward to bringing the drivers a
little extra creativity this season at reasonable prices.
He would like all you drivers to help him out by stopping in at
the pit pole shed for a head shot. This will help him in
creating cool photos with graphics for you all. He will be
shooting headshots at the next practice before and after the hot
laps.
Don't forget the Drivers Welcome Back Party, right after the
practice this coming Saturday. This is for you! It
will be a good time and a chance for some of the new drivers
& the new Speedzone workers to get acquainted with
everyone. So as you can see the 2006 season at the
Speedzone is off to a great start and will only get better as
time goes on.
