The second Speedzone practice is
in the books despite the week long threat of rain! The
day started out a little slow and chilly as racers trickled in to
get their cars through tech inspection. By noon
things were warning up as the final track prep was completed
and the cars took to the track for packing. The new company
that has been hired to prep the track is getting real
close to having the track graded to the original configuration.
His hard work will bring back 4 wide racing at the
speedzone! I noticed the start of the new long
awaited victory lane in the infield. It looks like it will be
a grand place that will allow everyone to see the excitement
of the winners.
The Speedzone Kids Club will be
featuring the Junior Flagman Stand this year! The new flag
stand is already in place, thanks to Jackie's Parkside of
Winneconne. Many kids will have the opportunity to Flag
a Race with a complete set of racing flags provided
by Ben Brinkman racing ( IMCA Modified #94 ) Fans that
attended the practice seen 3 full hours of hot lapping and
then they were invited down to the pit area for the
Welcome Back Party with the racers and promoters... Where
they were treated to free food, soda & beer. Some fans and
drivers kicked up their hells to the music played by two
of the Speedzone Security Crew who brought in their DJ
equipment. Over all the 2 practices this season
were a success, with many new racers and even Charlie Ewald #7
decided to come back for another season.
The new beginning of the Oshkosh
Speedzone will kick off next Friday night... With some Grand
Opening ceremonies presented by WAPL and the Oshkosh
Nothwestern. Come early for the Speedzone Friday Night
Perch dinner and stay for all the opening night action.
