The Rain & Hail Tried to Spoil the Show

A beautiful sunny day gave way at about 5:00 with a burst of hail and heavy rain from one small storm cell.  It was not looking real good for getting the races in... That 15 min. down pour turned the pit area into a sea of soupy, messy red clay.  With just a hour and a half to race time, racers struggled to get their rigs into the nearly impassable pit area.  Once everyone was in... the sun was working on the track.  the promoters knew if they put cars on the track to soon... the track would suffer the same fate as the pit area did.  The track needed time... It was a delicate balance of time... Just how much time could they give the track and still get in a good show for the fans.  Even with the time that was given to mother nature to work her magic, it took a long time to get the track packed in and race ready.

Drivers did their part and they did save the track... When racing began we all seen the nicest track of season come to life...  The early season ruts were a thing of the past.  Drivers that I talked to liked the track. I heard comments like smooth and fast, and no dust...  Fans were treated to the WDLMA  Wisconsin Dirt Late Models as they hit the Zone for the first time this season.  With 15 Late Models in the house... Two heats were run to set the field for the "A" Main.  In the "A" Main a hard battle took place between Tom Naeyaert and Russ Scheffler.  Lap after lap Russ was knocking, sometimes even pounding on the door trying to over take Tom.  When the checkers flew Tom held on for the win, with Russ grabbing seconds.  George Scheffler snatched up third. The American Auto Street Stocks put on another great show.  Mark Schultz drove a hard at the end of the "A" to put his #70 into Victory Lane for the first time this season. Mike Nehmer in the #5n was on a mission, but Mark held off his charge, leaving Mike to finish second, followed by Jeff Jahnke in the White #0

The Total Power Hobby Stock division was eager to hit the track!  They again drove a hard clean race with Jared Baughman #5 grabbing the win for the second week in a row! He was followed by Bob Vioght #52v for second and #75 Paul Steffens came home third, just in front of his brother.

The Coors Lite Dirt Devils took to the track.  With the points race really close at the top.  The drivers took to the track for a hard fought battle.  In the end it was Loren Rangeloff taking the win for the second straight week.  He was fallowed by Gordy Lewis in the #87. Chad Weidemann snatched up third in his #4 Little Green Machine.

The Budweiser Modifieds proved to be heart breaking for some of the drivers and glory for others. Scott Mullen drove his Bud 1 to Victory Lane for the first time this season.  He held off Joe McGrath #10m who took home second, followed by Russ Reinwald in the #25

The Miller Lite Grand National only ran a "A" Main... Early on it looked as if Dan Wirl was going to run away with the race, Just as it did last week.  Then came the cautions again like a replay of last week.  This opened the door again and Terry Van Roy took advantage of it.  Terry over took Dan for the win, and Tim Doehling followed for second.  Leaving third for Dan Whirl in the 84 with the rest of the pack hot on his heels.

The Kids Club T-Shirts arrived and the Kids really liked them! Get your kids a shirt... and a goodie bag that comes with it!  The kids club t-shirts are just $5.00
