Oshkosh Drivers Dominate The Night!

Finally the weather was more on our side.  On a beautiful overcast evening fans of the Speedzone were treated to a look at the Festival Foods Big Shopping cart. Some even had the chance to go for a spin in it.  It is this writers opinion that this was the best night of racing so far this season. The track was superb, races were edge of the seat exciting. Some new faces showed up in Victory Lane, making the night extra special for some of the race teams and fan!

As the action began in the feature events, we all seen Dennis Schultz of Oshkosh Bring home the checkers in the Budweiser Modified Division. Dennis survived 3 cautions and held of a strong charge by Oshkosh's Brian Drexler to capture the win. Chris Engels #29e finished 3rd for his best feature showing of the season. As the American Auto Street Stocks rumbled through their feature, there was not a caution to be found!  Twenty laps of hard fought racing from green to checkered.  As it all shook out, Oshkosh's Jerry Kope #4k easily grabbed the win!  Jerry was followed by David Hoerning in his # 19 holding off Jason Kienast #17jk for second. Jason quickly snapped up third.  It was one heck of a race, I love it when they race green to checkers!

When it came to the Miller Lite Grand Nationals it was looking like a re-pete of the last couple of races.  Dan Wirl was once again up front fast.  He battled lap after lap to hold on to the lead. I would guess to his liking and the joy of his fans in the stand. Dan was not going to be denied this week. Dan's first feature win of the season was well deserved after a number of 2nd's & 3rd place finishes. Scott Houpt #67 tried to spoil Dan night but had to settle for a second place finish. Terry Van Roy was hot on his tail to snag third.

The Coors Light Dirt Devils ran a fast clean race.  John Hall #96 went quickly to the front, where he would stay til the checkers.  Even the heavy foot of Loren Rangeloff #24 could do nothing to close the gap. Loren had to settled for second holding off the advances of Gordy Lewis #87 as he came home in third.

The Total Power Hobby Stocks but on another clean race.  This new division is really grooming some new drivers. This week Rob Dollevet #7d took the win with the Steffens brother snatching up second and third.

The Kids of the kids club had a chance of winning a play station, DVD combo.  If you have not signed your kids up for the Kids Club yet... Do so this week.  The girls of the Speedzone's Girlz Garage are doing a great job for the kids and have a lot of fun planned all summer!
