Changes & Great Racing Was Word of the Night

As I stood in the infield waiting for things to get under way. I notices some changes where made at the zone. First off, I want to say the program at the zone is always good.  I'm not saying that there is not some glitches that need to be addressed.  However, it's refreshing to see the promoters tweaking things to correct these issues.  I seen a new face in the flagstand.  I didn't see the bucket of chalk or the orange cone with the rope for restarts.  They went back to 2 x 2 restarts.  I also seen they went back to a line up board for restarts.  It seemed to me these changes moved the program along smoother.  Well enough about that!   Fans will not want to miss this weeks show, as poster autograph night was push back to Aug. 8th at the zone. Thanks, go out to Valley Graphics ( formally Davis Printing. ) for the posters!

Fans will want to get to the zone early to be sure they get a Limited Addition poster and autographs. The drivers featured on the poster, were drivers that lead the points race after the night of racing on July 28, 2006 Also, this week 50 lucky fans will win a back pack filled with goodies,  Thanks to the race team of modified driver Chris Engles and his sponsor DPI Printing of Oshkosh.  With the Winnebago County Fair in town... Fans will be able to get into the fair and the races this week for the price of a fair ticket. Parking will be free Tuesday also. So bring they whole family and the rest of the kids around the block to the Zone.  The WDLMA will also be racing! So if you like Late Models don't miss the races this Tuesday!

When the Budweiser Mods took to the track for their feature, Night had fallen and the air had cooled off.  When the checkers flew it was the # 75 of Eric Scribner taking the win.  He was followed by #31 Joseph Jaeger for second, Scott Mullens in the #1 Budweiser mod came home third!

The Coors Light Dirt Devils were wild and crazy again! With Jason Fish in the 01 going for a wild ride, barrel rolling and kart wheeling in turn 4. Jason was alright.  When the race was in the books it was John Hall taking the win with Gordy Lewis charging hard for 2nd. The Purple Monster #222 of Dave Wilkins came home 3rd for the second week in a row!

The Total Power Hobby Stocks ran another good race... Jared Baughman grabbing the win again this week . Paul Steffens took second, followed by Brother Greg Steffens.  It's a Girl... That right the Steffens's Crew has a new member! Baby Loran was born this past week.  Hope I spelled her name right ;-)

When the American Auto Street Stocks took to the track for the feature... Fans seen a well run race with few cautions.  When the dust settled it was points leader Jerry Kope #4 taking the win, with the #2 of Jerry Winkler hot on his heels for second. Dave Avercamp in the #28 snagged third.

Again the Miller Lite Grand National put on a super show!  It looked like Tim Doelhing was going to run away with the race. Then he went up in flames again, making it 3 weeks in a row that Tim night would end in flames!   When the checkers waved it was again Dan Wirl in the #84 taking home the win and the points lead.  He was followed by Neon Dion Wahl in the #77.  The # 93 of Daniel Schumacher held on for third!
