When
the Budweiser Mods
took to the track for their feature race a Champion was going to
be crowned.
When all was said and done, it was Mike Wedelstadt #1 taking the
win. Ryan Besaw #10 ran strong to come home second. Dave Diemel
in the #12 snagged third, just in front of Oshkosh's Dennis
Schultz in the #39. Brian Drexler drove a clean safe race to
hold on to a fifth place finish, sealing the track championship
for Brian in his #8 mod! The Coors Light Dirt Devils
ran a great race! Gordy Lewis added in the most extreme, wild
crash, I seen all season. After we seen Gordy was all right and
the track was cleared, racing resumed. Dave Wilkins did
everything he could in his attempt at the championship, taking
home the checkers was not enough. Dave's efforts would
fall short, as Ron Paulick Jr. in the #20 finished the race to
hold on and cement the Track Championship! Rookie,
Nick Furman came home in second, with Amanda Rangeloff hot on
his tail for third.
The Total Power Hobby Stocks were close in the points race...
Was it going to be one of the Steffens Brothers or Marshall T.
Mullenix that would take the championship? When the
feature was in the history books, it was Paul Steffens in the
#75 taking the win and the Championship! Mullenix took second in
the #51 fallowed by Chris Delron in the #16d
In
the American Auto Street Stocks Division the Championship was
locked up by Jerry Kope the week before. However, that
didn't stop the drivers from putting on a great race for the
fans! Jerry Winkler #2 stormed the field for the win... Track
Champion Kope came home second, with Todd Everard #22 hot on his
heels!
Again the Miller Lite Grand National put on a super show with
minimal cautions. With the points championship on the line...
fans watch with baited breath to see if it was going to be Terry
Van Roy or Dan Wirl taking the championship! As the race
progressed Dan Wirl did what he had to, in order to capture the
championship! Brad Mueller #5 Grabbed the win! Nick
Schumacher#47 snagged second. Dan took the checkers in third
along with the Championship! Dan's celebration that nigh was
spoiled by a protest. Which lead to another protest! The
cars were impounded, leaving the final results up in the
air! This didn't stop the drivers from enjoying some Sweet
Corn and a couple Coors Lights. On Sunday the official word was
out, in a statement from track management! Dan Wirl would be the
2006 track Champion! The official statement follows:
There was a
cooperate decision made after looking at the track operation
rules under claiming and the division rules.
In order to claim
or protest a car. The claimer has to go directly to the
claim/protest area under its own power and finish the race competitively,
on the lead lap. The 1K did not finish the race, he went
into the pits on lap 5, there for that protest on car #84 is
voided. The protest on car 77 is also voided do to he did
not finish the race and the claimer did not go to the claim
area, he went to the tech building for protesting.
The finish will be
the way they finished on the 1st. Dan Wirl is track champion
in the Grand National Division.
