Days of Thunder Brings a Flood of Great Races!

The Days of Thunder at the Zone provided some really great racing.  The fans that opted to say home or go to some of the local football games missed a great show.  There was some of the best racing of the season this past weekend.  Here is a heads up to the fans... don't forget the Fastest Show on Dirt... coming up on Sept. 21st.  You seldom get the chance to see a show of this caliber!  Winged Sprint Cars and a National Late Model show in one huge show.  The Speedzone is going out on a limb to bring this show to the fans.  We truly need the support of the fans to pull this show off. So pack up the kids, uncle Joe, call some friends and all come out for this super night of racing!  Both the Sprint cars and late models will be running time trials for starting position so come early to watch the speed.  Also, the vintage mods will be putting on a show for the fans.  See, feel, and hear, dirt track racing of days gone by!  Other than the Grim Reaper 250 Enduro on Oct. 20th this is your last chance to get your racing fix, before the long cold days of Winter settle in.

The Budweiser Fastrak Late Models ran two full shows 1 on Friday and one on Saturday.  Fridays show unfolded with Craig Bartz #85 Grabbing the win. Justin Hirt #27 scooped up second, as Troy Springborn was charging but had to settle for a strong third place finish.  Night two provided a great race... When the checkers flew it was the 95 of Jeff Bodendorfer being driven by Scott Zedork as a sub. driver bringing home the win. Troy Springborn #29 captured the second place spot, just ahead of a strong finish for Dave Fieber in third.

The Coors Light Modifieds started with a full field of 20 cars.  The race was a good one with many hard fought battles for position. When the rubber was done being laid down on the track. It was Eric Scrubner #75 taking the checkers. Oshkosh's Brian Drexler #8 pushed it to the edge, but had to settle for third, just behind Jarrod Averlink in the #2 for second.

The Total Power Sales Street Stocks feature was one of the best this season in the eyes of this writer. Lap after lap there was a battle for the top 4 spots. It was some great clean, hard, racing on the blackened track.  When Mark Winters waved the double checkers it was the Cozmic Cowboy, FW Formiller taking home the iron. Brian Drexler finishes just tenths of a second behind for second. Jeff Jahnke in the #0 held of the # 5 of Mike Nehmer for third.

The Miller Lite Grand Nationals had a field of just 13 cars but, put on a good show for the fans. When the checkers waved it was Donny Sorce #99 taking the win. Tim Doehling #5 spoiled the One, Two finish for the Sorce Camp taking second. Leaving the third place for the #14 of Will Sorce.

The Lynn's Service Center Dirt Devils finished up their season at the zone with the #8 of Tony Everhard taking the win.  He was followed by Steve Seehawer in the #4 for second. Mark Krause came home in third in the h2o.
