 The
2007 Speedzone season came to an end December 15th. at the
fantastic awards banquet, held at La Sure's Banquet Hall in
Oshkosh. The event was quite the step up from the 2006
banquet... Which shows the dedication and commitment of your
track promoters. Some had concerns with last years banquet, your
promoters listened and made some great changes to present a
quality, enjoyable event for 2007. With that said, for the 220 +
in attendance, enjoyed some great conversations and reminiscing
over cocktails. When the Grand Ballroom opened, everyone settled
in for some great food. 
After everyone was stuffed, and had a chance to grabbed a free
beer or soda. Eric Kellsvig MC for the evening welcomed everyone
and moved right into the cash and award presentations. As Eric
started calling up driver to pick up envelopes of cash, I could
not help but notice, that we had drivers that finished nearly 20
places out of first picking up some cash! Eric worked his
way from Dirt Devils to Mods. Then he turned the mic over
to Fastrak Regional Director, Jeff Curtin to present the Fastrak
cash and hardware.

| After, the main
Fastrak awards, Jeff moved on to the Fastrak Young Guns Awards.
It was announce that starting in 2008 they will be known as the
AJ Miller Young Guns Awards, in tribute to AJ who lost his young
life in a tragic car accident. AJ will be missed greatly at the
races. The program will also be extended to all divisions at the
Speedzone. After the Fastrak presentation, A number of
drivers received Special Awards for Sportsmanship, Dedicated
Service and support of the Speedzone. We had a little speech
from 2007 feature winner Charlie (the Tuna ) Ewald and then we
moved onto the Dance and Door Prize give a ways. We
would like to thank all that came through with door prizes, and
a special thank you to Jonny's Racing Parts for helping to cover
the cost of the fee refreshment we all enjoyed. All in
all, the event was a great success... We'll have to work harder
to make the 2008 banquet even better! |
