Great Racing & Organization setting in at the Zone

            What a beautiful Friday night, the sun is shining on the third mile clay SpeedZone track and it’s just the right temperature for racing. The track is a little dry but still very racy.    

First up Coors Light Modifieds, The first heat went to Ben Brinkman (#94B) leading from the start for the win. Second heat taken by Eric Mullen. (7) coming from the sixth starting position. Third heat got a little exciting as Matt Rettler (11) pushed Jammie Schmidt (42S), the second place car, up the third turn on the third lap. Rettler was sent to the back on the restart. Mike Klenz (17) challenged for the lead on lap five but got to high in turn three and fell back three spots. Scott Mullen (1) moved into second as the second caution came out when Rick Robbins (26) spun in turn four. On the restart Mullen passed Robbins for the lead and win.

The Budweiser Fast Track Late Models took the track leading off with a flag to flag win by Craig Bartz (85), Shawano. Caution came out on lap two of heat two sidelining Jeff Wickersheim (7W) White Lake and Dan Wanta (27W) Seymour. Jim Zdroik (6Z) Big Bend took the lead on the restart and finished in front of the five cars left on the track.

First Street Stock heat began with a bang as Mike Nehmer (5) spun out on lap two and on the restart Todd Everard (22N) passed Scott Sullivan (33) for the lead. Three laps later Rich Garb (44G) passed Everard to take over first for two laps when he spun out on the white flag lap giving the win to Everard. Mark Schultz (70S) led the first five laps of heat two until Jerry Winkler (2W) finally took the lead and the win. Kyle Schroeder (87S) led the first three laps of heat three before Tim Reichenberger (21R) Oshkosh grabbed the lead holding it for four laps when Greg Steffens (71S) Appleton, coming from his seventh starting position, passed him for the lead and the win.

Next up the Miller Lite Grand National heat one was a back and forth race between Jeff Richards (10R) and Adam Pugh (71P) with Richards leading at the checkers. Thomas Moore (2M) took the second heat lead flag to flag.

The Dirt Devils heats were uneventful as Tyler Lind (97L) took the win in heat one, Gordy Lewis (87L) won in heat two and Lorenz Rangeloff (24R) took heat three.

The Coors Light B-Main appeared to be a walk by Ryan Besaw (10B) until the last lap when late comer Jerimy Hendrick (19C), coming from the last place start to over take and pass Besaw on the last lap.

The Street Stock B-Main was won by Dave Avercamp(26A), Taking over on lap four and never looking back.

All eyes where on the the late comer Jerimy Hedrick (19C) wondering if he could repeat his B-main win in the Coors Light A-Main. Early leaders were Joey Jaeger (31J) and Brinkman (94B). Scott Mullen (1) took the lead on lap nine but Hedrick grabbed second a couple of laps later but fell short and Mullen took the win.

The Budweiser Fast Track Late Models went off without a hitch as Craig Bartz (85) led flag to flag while Dave Feiber (1) and Tom Naeyaert(9N) battled back and forth for the second spot. Naeyaert finally finished second while Feiber took third.

The Street Stock A-Main looked to be a walk as Jerry Winkler (2W) led the way until the green, white, checker end when Mark Schultz (70S) passed him on the last lap. Jerry Kope (4K) finished third.

The Miller Lite Grand Nationals A-Main was marred by five cautions resulting in a time shortened race. Adam Pugh led all the way since passing Jeff Richards (10R) on lap three. Richards finished second.

The Dirt Devils A-Main was won by Tyler Lind (97L) with Al Cotrell (00) second and Nick Furman (38F) third.
