Everything Coming Together for the Racette Ford Night at the Zone...

Friday night and the sun was shining on a very good race track at the Oshkosh SpeedZone raceway. Tonight was the first use of the new scoreboard and it was quite a debut.  Fans could follow the position of their favorite driver and if a distraction occurred it was easy to catch up. All in all it was a good first night for the scoreboard.

Dave Feiber, Neenah ( 1) finished first with Tom Naeyaert, Shawano (9N) in second and Justin Hirt, Tigerton (27) third. Jerry Cope, Oshkosh (4K) came from ninth start to take second and Mike Rauchle, Oshkosh (66R), the early leader, hung on for third. Shawn Haydon (00H) passed the smoking Solomon on lap eight to finish first while Solomon hung on for second and Rich Garb (44G) took third.  The third heat was won by Mike Nehmer, Larson (5N) leading from start to finish with David Hoerning, Appleton (19X) and Jeffery Jungworth, Oshkosh (12J) following for second and third.      View & Purchase Photos Here

Heat three had excitement as a back and forth second and third position with Adam Pugh (71P) and Dion Wahl, Omro (77W) battled for the second slot. Will Schumacher, Hartford (16S) took the win with Pugh winning the battle for second and on the last lap Nick Schumacher, Eagle (47S) beat out Wahl for third.

Heat one of the Coors Light Modifieds was dominated by a substitute driver, Dennis Schultz, Oshkosh (37S) subbed for his honeymooning son John. Dennis over came a challenge by Jeremy Hendrick (19C) passed Schultz on lap three but Schultz regained the lead and finished first with Hendrick second and Steve Kloehn, Waukau (55K) third. Heat two was another walk by an Oshkosh driver as Brian Drexler (8D) took the lead on lap two and held off several charges by Scott Mullen ( 1) who finished second with Joey Jaeger (31J) finishing third. Overcoming an earlyh caution heat three ended with Jammie Schmidt (42S) in first followed by Ryan Besaw, Omro (10B) in second and Eddie Lemay (13) in third.   The Budweiser Fast Track Late Model A-Main was lead early by a fan favorite Jeff Curtin, Shawano (11), he had pledged half his A-Main winnings to the Schultz family fund being collected to help with their recovery, the Schultz home had been destroyed last week by an explosion. Unfortunately Curtin was passed on lap eight by Dan Wanta, Seymour (27W) but Wanta spun out two laps later and Tom Naeyaert, Seymour (9N) took over with Dave Feiber, Neenah (1) in tow. Then two laps later Todd Jensema, Sheboygan Falls (89) passed Curtin. Naeyaert, Feiber and Jensema finished one, two three.

The Total Power Sales Street Stock A-Main was even more exciting with David Hoerning, Appleton (19X) leading the first half until the car failed. Shawn Haydon (00H} took over the lead. Three laps later Mike Nehmer, Larsen (5N) grabbed the lead but Hayden came right back. This back and forth went on for the rest of the race when on the last lap Nehmer passed Haydon for the lead and Jerry Kope, Oshkosh (4K) and Jerry Winkler, Oshkosh (2W) took advantage of the leader and with three abreast in the last corner finished second and third.

Frank Formiller, Oshkosh (9F) won the Miller Lite Grand National A-Main leading from start to checkers. Jeff Richards (10R) took over second on lap twelve and Brian Henry (7H) worked his way up finishing third.

The Coors Light Modifieds A-Main was lead early by Dennis Schultz, Oshkosh (37S) until the Three wheeled tornado of Jeremy Hedrick (19C) took over on lap four. Scott Mullen (1) passed Schultz for second on lap seven then on lap sixteen Ryan Besaw (10B) passed Schultz for third. Final results scored Hedrick first, Mullen second and Schultz third. Besaw was scored in eleventh place.

The Lynn’s Service Center Dirt Devils Feature race was highlighted by the signing of “loose wheel Lucile” as three different times a car lost a wheel to bring out the caution. Undeterred by these instances Tim Sheppard (29S) lead from the start for the win with Dave Wilkins (222W) in second and Ron Jr, Paulick (20P) for third.
