Wednesday, August 24, 2011 - Oshkosh, WI. - Checking in with 800 horsepower coming from 410 cubic inch engines. Held to the racing surface with some of the widest tires seen on racing machines which are up to 18 inches wide and a pair of wings for incredible down force, these 1400 pound racing machines navigate the third-mile clay oval at Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway at speeds of nearly 120 mph.

The cars being described are the IRA Outlaw Sprints which will return, nearly 30 in number on Friday Night August 26th for the Graphic Point Night IRA Outlaw Sprint Special. Piloted by some of the finest Sprint Car drivers in the nation the upcoming IRA Sprint Car event will surely satisfy any need for speed.

Tuesday, August 23, 2011 - Oshkosh, WI. - In four of the five divisions the season long championship chase will be coming down to the wire. During a highly competitive season, where only a single driver has won more than three feature races the championship standings have proven the level of competition and parity among the race teams at Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway is at an all-time high.

Currently the title chases in the Automotive Supply Company Modifieds and Miller Lite Grand Nationals show multiple drivers with a shot at the championship.

Friday, August 19, 2011 - Oshkosh, WI. - It had been three weeks since racing action had taken place at the Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway and the anticipation was high as well over 100 drivers checked into the pit area to do battle on Fan and Driver Appreciation Night. The program, presented by Shoreview Lanes and B-104 was a celebration of speed and fun that provided not only great racing but free corn and beverages for fans after the races, as well as a kid's ride along event where children got to ride with their favorite drivers. The evening was simply fun from any perspective.

Wednesday, August 17, 2011 - Oshkosh, WI. - Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway will be a busy place on Friday evening, as the track will be presenting it's first racing program since July 29th. Shoreview Lanes and B-104 will be presenting sponsors of the Fan and Driver Appreciation Night and the number of festivities during the evening is staggering.

Shoreview Lanes, the primary sponsor of the event, is a Family Entertainment Center featuring bowling and games including Thunder Alley Bowling from 9:00pm to Midnight every Friday and Saturday Night where you can bowl for just $10 during the entire time.

Monday, August 15, 2011 - Oshkosh, WI. - While race teams and fans were ready to resume the 2011 racing season at Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway after a week off due to the Winnebago County Fair, Mother Nature had other plans. With the pit area seeing several new drivers appearing for the 2011 season teams were just unloading their cars and preparing for the evening's race program when a steady drizzle developed. Officials waited to see if conditions would change and 15 minutes later steady rains began. Officials had no choice to cancel the race events for the evening with the show being declared awash at 5:45pm.

Races tonight, August 12th have been cancelled due to rain.

Wednesday, August 10, 2011 - Oshkosh, WI. - After a one week break for the Winnebago County Fair, the Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway is back in action with five consecutive weeks of racing action. In fact we return to racing with a double-header weekend of racing.

Our Friday Night racing program returns as drivers continue to battle for the 2011 point championships on Graphic Point Night at the Races held this Friday evening, August 12th. Graphic point the sponsor for the evening produces the weekly point program for the raceway is a full service design and printing facility.

Wednesday, August 10, 2011 - Oshkosh, WI. - As the season beings to wind down, drivers in the Miller Lite Grand Nationals, Total Power Sales Street Stocks and Lynn Service Center Dirt Devils, have just four opportunities to earn points toward the 2011 title chase. Competitors in the Automotive Supply Company Modifieds and Leon's Frozen Custard Sport Modified have just three point events left due to those classes having off during the upcoming IRA Sprint Special on August 26th.

Friday, August 5, 2011 - Oshkosh, WI. - Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway's two day special event known as the Oshkosh Speedzone Fall Classic will mark the final stock car racing event of the 2011 season on the 1/3 mile clay oval and the two day festival of speed will feature five divisions of racing with the largest car counts and highest driver payouts of the season. Last year over 140 cars participated in the two-day event in spite of weather related issues.

Thursday, August 4, 2011 - Oshkosh, WI. -Sometimes life presents unexpected challenges, and these misfortunes can be overcome with a little help from friends and family. The racing community recently had one of it's own suffer some misfortune as M.J. Brenner and her family was displaced by a house fire which had occurred on July 23rd. Brenner is a competitor in the Lynn's Service Center Dirt Devil division and she has sponsored several cars through her business Generation Lanes in Eldorado, WI.

Friday, July 29, 2011 - Oshkosh, WI. - The final racing program of July took place at the Oshkosh Speedzone on Friday Night July 29th, as Knaus Cheese and Weyauwega Star Dairy presented the Leroy Dehn Memorial race. Over 100 cars turned out to participate in the program.

Wednesday, July 27, 2011 - We're heading into the home stretch of the 2011 racing season at Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway. The current year has been highlighted by close and competitive race events, last lap passes for victories and high car counts with an average weekly showing of over 100 cars entering the pit area.
A look at the remaining races this season shows a wide variety of events to satisfy any need for speed.

Phrases like "dirt's for racing, asphalt's for getting to the track" and conversely "asphalt 's for racing, dirt is for planting corn" can commonly be heard.

Driver's likewise often have a preference but what of those who have an opportunity to try both?

In three divisions, that number separates would be champions from their rivals. As the season heads into the final month one can begin to look at the title chases and determine the contenders.

So just who is looking solid and which divisions have the closest title chases?

First, let's look at the point system.

Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway awards 40 points to the winner of a feature race. For every position behind the winner the points drop by one. As a result second place scores 39 points, third scores 38 and so forth. The 20th position in a feature scores 21 points.
