OSHKOSH, WI – The management and staff of the Oshkosh Speedzone are proud to announce that for 2013 we will be sanctioning our Modifieds IMCA.
After meeting with Jim, from IMCA on Friday January 18, 2013 and our accountant during the week we have decided to sanction our Modifieds IMCA. The decision to do this was purely business. Looking at what we paid out to our Modified drivers for a points fund and what we would pay into IMCA was a wash. Looking at it as a driver's perspective they may also qualify for more points money through IMCA's different programs, track, state, regional and national points funds.
We talked to many drivers and to our surprise they encouraged us to sanction even though we had a great car count, one of the highest in the Nation, and did follow the IMCA rule package. It was stated by several drivers that it takes the Speedzone out of the good guy bad guy equations. It also will provide equality on rules and enforcements with IMCA.
Larry and myself looked at the drivers that we had, and out of our top 20 drivers there were 16 out of 20 drivers that had an IMCA license. We also felt that by the Speedzone sanctioning IMCA we did not feel there would be a great drop off but instead may bring even more cars to the Speedzone.
We are pleased that IMCA has finally allowed the Speedzone sanctioning after many years of trying. We have proven to IMCA we are a viable track and would be a great addition to IMCA and the Speedzone.
